ARRLVEC
Sponsored by Yavapai Amateur Radio Club
The Yavapai Amateur Radio club offers FCC amateur radio license exams for all license classes approximately semi-monthly, provided we are able to maintain a venue. Please pre-register, as shown below. We have converted to on-line, computer based testing and registration for accuracy and convenience. If you are unable to use a tablet computer to take the test, please let us know at testing@w7yrc.org. We will provide a traditional paper test, if possible.
Here is the local schedule for upcoming license exams. Exams are held on the following Saturdays, beginning at 9:00 AM.
- 08-03-2024
- 10-05-2024
- 12-07-2024
Other testing sessions can be found at https://hamstudy.org/sessions/.
If you have a question or problem, e-mail testing@w7yrc.org
Prior to the Test
***Follow these simple steps to your new license***
1.
Go to https://hamstudy.org/sessions/arrl/86305/inperson. Scroll down to the YARC test session and the green time slot button. The registration processor will guide you. If the session is full, click on the (Load More) button for a possible follow-up session about 90 minutes later.
If you are unable to register, contact us at testing@w7yrc.org
2.
If you registered with HamStudy.org (above) you have already completed this step. Otherwise, you will be required to enter your Federal Registration Number (FRN) on the application form and test sheet. If you will be taking the Technician exam you will need to pre-apply for an FRN in advance of the test session. You do not have to hold any kind of license to apply for an FRN. This may be done on-line at: fcc.gov
If you are taking the General or Extra Class exam, you will already have an FRN number and it will show on the front of your license.
Please be prepared. We do not collect the following fee. FCC will be charging you $35 for a new license that needs to be paid before they will give you a license. If you are upgrading to a General or Extra license with this testing, you will not be charged for the upgrade.
3.
Anyone with special needs, please call Don WB7TPH at 928-775-4690 or e-mail testing@w7yrc.org a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the test date. We will do everything we can to accommodate you.
4.
Come to the test location on time. Tests are administered at the Jeep Posse Building at 1200 Commerce Dr. Prescott, AZ. (Behind the skating rink at Pioneer Park) Look for the tower structure, with antennas, on the backside of the building.
Bring the following items to the test:
- Photo I.D.
- $15.00 (Correct change please, or checks made payable to Yavapai ARC)
- Blue or black pen, and two #2 pencils and eraser (for paper test only)
- Calculator. If you plan on using one, the memory must be cleared. Cell phones cannot be used as calculators. No exceptions!
- Current license. If you are upgrading, you MUST bring the signed original of your current license and a photocopy of the same license.
